In an interesting turn of events, Doodh Ganga has once again landed in limbo despite the mindless mining costing government dearly. Earlier, taking a serious note of the bulldozers battering its basin and banks, the National Green Tribunal imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on the Geology and Mining Department. The department was supposed to spend the amount on the restoration of the river. But while the work was executed, the payment was not released to the contractors forcing them to decry the official stance and seriousness over the welfare work.
